About
Stardust Music Society of NJ (Stardust) is a NJ based non-profit organization qualifying under IRS 501(3)(c) rules. Stardust promotes big band music, small jazz groups, classical and other styles of music throughout the northern half of New Jersey. Our mission focuses on performance, outreach and education.
Performances range in styles with different types of groups, however, our flagship ensemble is Stardust Big Band. This is a 17-piece jazz ensemble that performs hits from the swing era by Count Basie, Woody Herman, Glenn Miller and many more legendary American artists.
Outreach is designed to send musicians to those who cannot easily attend performance or for those who rarely have the opportunity to enjoy live music in their communities. We send soloist and small ensembles to senior citizen centers, VA facilities, centers for physically and mentally disabled individuals and other appropriate venues.
Education is integrated in to both of the activities above. Being newly formed, we are seeking funding to establish our educational programs. Among the planned activities are having students perform alongside professionals in the big band, perform with soloists on outreach programs, hosting pre-concert lectures, presenting children's concerts and in the future hosting master classes and summer workshops. We will continue to seek new opportunities to educate aspiring students as an integral part of our operations.
Stardust Music Society of NJ is governed by a five member board of directors. Their service has been critical in the formation of this organization and will continue to guide the strategic activities of Stardust.
Please consider supporting Stardust with a financial contribution of any size to help us touch more lives in NJ with the sounds of music.
Thank you.
