Biography
Dr. McKinney free-lanced as a trumpeter in New York City before deciding on a career in academic music. He joined the faculty of the City University of New York in 1974 and taught in the Music Department of Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College until 2003. At Kingsborough Dr. McKinney taught music theory, directed several ensembles, developed and supervised a humanities course (Freedom and Control in 20th century Culture) and developed and taught courses in music technology.
